Makes 12 – 16 Servings

 

1 Pkg. Duncan Hines Deluxe Fudge Marble Cake Mix

1 Regular Size Pkg. Chocolate Pudding and Pie Filling

½ Pint (1 Cup) Whipping Cream

2 Tbsp. Sugar

½ Tsp. Vanilla

 

  1. Using 8 inch round layer cake pans; mix, bake and cool cake as directed in the label.
  2. Meanwhile cook chocolate pudding as directed on the label.
  3. Cool.Whip cream until stiff, add sugar and vanilla.
  4. Beat pudding smooth; fold whipped cream into pudding.
  5. Split each cake layer into two thin layers.
  6. Spread chocolate mixture between the layers and on sides and top of cake.

Refrigerate until firm, about 3 hours.

Bavarian Chocolate Cake

Makes 2, 9 Inch Layers

2 Cups Sifted Cake Flour

1 ⅔ Cups Sugar

1 ½ Tsp. Soda

1 Tsp. Salt

½ Tsp. Baking Powder

½ Cup Crisco

⅔ Cup Milk

3 Eggs

⅔ Cup Milk

1 Tsp. Vanilla

3 Squares (1 Oz.) Unsweetened Chocolate

 

  1. Combine dry ingredients in mixing bowl.
  2. Add Crisco, melted chocolate, and ⅔ cup milk.
  3. Blend for 30 seconds; beat with mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes, or beat by hand for 300 vigorous strokes.
  4. Add eggs, rest of milk, and vanilla.
  5. Beat 2 minutes or 300 strokes.
  6. Spread batter in two well greased and floured 9 x 1 ½ inch round layer cake pans.
  7. Bake at 350° for 30 – 35 minutes, until center springs back when touched lightly.
  8. Cool 10 – 12 minutes.

Then remove from pans.

Aunt Sadie’s Cake

(Makes 16 – 20 Servings)

2 Cups Sugar

1 ½ Cups Crisco Oil

4 Eggs

2 ¼ Cups Sifted Regular Flour

2 Tsp. Salt

2 Tsp. Soda

2 Tsp. Cinnamon

3 Cups Grated Raw Carrots

1 ½ Cups Chopped Nuts

  1. Combine sugar, Crisco oil and eggs; beat at medium speed for 2 minutes.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together; add to Crisco oil mixture and beat at low speed for 1 minute.
  3. Add grated carrots and nuts.
  4. Spread batter in a greased and floured 13 x 9 ½ x 2 inch pan.
  5. Bake at 300° for about 1 hour, until cake tests done with a toothpick.

When cool, spread with cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting:

 

1 Pkg. (8 Oz.) Cream Cheese

¼ Cup (1/2 Stick) Butter or Margarine

2 Tsp. Vanilla

1 Pkg. (1 Lb.) Confectioner’s Sugar (sift if lumpy)

 

  1. Let cream cheese and butter warm to room temperature.
  2. Beat them together and add vanilla.
  3. Gradually beat in sugar.

Add more sugar to thicken or milk to thin frosting if needed for good spreading

 

Apricot Crunch

Apricot Beurdaleue

Makes 8 – 10 Servings

1 Can (1 Lb. 14 Oz.) Apricots, Drained

3 Tbsp. Brown Sugar

1 Pkg. Duncan Hines Deluxe Yellow Cake Mix

½ Cup Chopped Pecans, If Desired

½ Cup (1 Stick) Butter or Margarine, Melted

1 Cup Brown Sugar

Sour Cream

Sweetened Whipped Cream

Ice Cream

 

  1. Arrange apricots in the bottom of a 9 inch pan.
  2. Sprinkle with 3 tablespoons brown sugar.
  3. Bland cake mix, nuts, melted butter and 1 cup brown sugar.
  4. Mixture will be crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle over apricots.
  6. Bake at 350° for 45 – 50 minutes, until golden brown.

Serve warm with sour cream, sweetened whipped cream or ice cream.

Applesauce Cake

Applesauce Gingerbread Baby Cakes w/Orange Glaze

 

Makes 2 Round 9 Inch Layers

½ Cup Crisco

2 Cups Sugar

3 Cups Sifted Regular Flour

2 Tsp. Soda

1 Tsp. Salt

1 Tsp. Cinnamon

1 Tsp. Nutmeg

1 Tsp. Allspice

2 Cups Applesauce

1 Cup Chopped Nuts

 

  1. Blend Crisco and sugar.
  2. Combine flour, soda, salt and spices and add alternately with applesauce, mixing after each addition.
  3. Stir in chopped nuts.
  4. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch round pans.
  5. Bake at 350° for 30 – 35 minutes or until center springs back when lightly touched.

Cool on racks 10 – 20 minutes before removing from pans.

Apple Upside Down Spice Cake

Breton Apple Cake

 

(Makes about 16 Servings)

¼ Cup (1/2 Stick) Butter or Margarine

1 Cup Light Brown Sugar

3 Cups Pared Fresh Apple Slices Or 1 Can (1 Pound 4 Ounces) Pie Sliced Apples

½ Cup Chopped Nuts, If Desired

1 Package Duncan Hines Deluxe Spice Cake Mix

 Whipped Cream or Ice Cream If Desired

  1. Melt butter in a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan.  Sprinkle brown sugar evenly in pan.
  2. Arrange apple slices and nuts over sugar mixture.
  3. Mix cake as directed on the label; spread batter over fruit.
  4. Bake at 350° for 40 – 45 minutes, until cake tests done with toothpicks.
  5. Let cool in a pan for 5 minutes, and then turn upside down onto a large platter or a cookie sheet.
  6. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.

1 Package Duncan Hines Deluxe Spice Cake Mix

½ Cup Chopped Walnuts, If Desired

½ Cup (1 Stick) Butter or Margarine, Melted

Ice Cream or Sweetened Whipped Cream

  1. Arrange apple slices in the bottom of a 9 inch square pan.
  2. Blend cake mix, nuts and melted butter; sprinkle over apples.
  3. Bake at 350° for 45 – 50 minutes, until golden brown.
  4. Serve with ice cream or sweetened whipped cream.
